Research profile of the team:
– The Pathology Team, as part of the National Reference Laboratories, is responsible for conducting research on 3 disease units: bovine spongiform encephalopathy, scrapie in sheep and goats, ovine pulmonary adenocarcinoma
– research on the characteristics of histopathological and immunohistochemical changes in viral and bacterial diseases. Research on the diagnosis and pathogenesis of neoplastic diseases of viral etiology
– investigation of the immunogenic properties of selected peptides of viral origin
– imaging of the morphology of tissues of animal origin and changes caused by bacteria and fungi using scanning electron microscopy

Research profile of the team:
– analysis of research results (including those collected in the Central Database CELAB-CBD) regarding the occurrence of infectious animal diseases in Poland and contamination of food of animal origin and feed,
– risk assessment of selected infectious animal diseases using statistical methods, geographic information systems, and mathematical modeling
– cooperation with other units of PIWet-PIB in preparing risk assessment reports, opinions, and expert evaluations for public administration authorities
– cooperation with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in developing, submitting, and validating data on African swine fever testing in Poland
– reference activities in the field of collecting and processing data on laboratory test results

Activity profile of the team:
– production and quality control of media, fluids, and reagents for the Institute’s scientific departments. Media and fluids are prepared in accordance with the PN-EN ISO 11133:2014-07+A2:2020-10 standard “Microbiology of food, animal feed and water – preparation, production, storage and performance testing of culture media.”
– production of media for Veterinary Hygiene Stations and other external laboratories (media for isolation of Brucella bacteria, media for serological identification of Salmonella strains, and for testing Paenibacillus spp.).
– production and control of laboratory water of purity grade II (resistivity 10 – 15 MΩcm) and purity grade I (resistivity 18.2 MΩcm).
– preparation of laboratory glassware for PCL2 laboratories
– substantive support for diagnostic laboratories in the production and quality control of microbiological media
